The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport to post-collection facilities. Key responsibilities include operating residential/recycling collection trucks (side-load and/or rear-load), loading solid waste, yard waste, and recyclables, operating equipment to compact trash, completing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and reports, communicating vehicle mechanical problems, maintaining route quality standards, following all safety standards and company rules, maintaining clean vehicle, identifying and tagging prohibited waste items, managing assigned helpers if applicable, complying with all applicable laws and company policies, wearing required personal protective equipment, reporting accidents or incidents immediately, maintaining professional demeanor, keeping accurate service records, managing inventory of containers and recommending purchases, working with supervisors to improve routing efficiencies, attending safety and branch meetings, and performing other duties as required. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED desired, possession of a Commercial Driver's License, minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate, ability to meet safety sensitive function criteria, and ability to safely drive the truck and operate equipment. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include knowledge of truck components and maintenance, ability to maneuver truck in tight spaces, recognize unacceptable waste, communicate effectively, read and comprehend documents and maps, follow instructions, adapt to change, exert muscle force to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, coordinate limbs, and follow safety policies. Physical and mental demands include ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell; visual requirements; ability to lift/move various weights; sitting up to 75% of the time; and ability to work in loud conditions. Working conditions include exposure to loud noise, humidity, weather extremes, mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, outdoor environment, motor vehicle traffic, and occasional work in high places.
