Job Description General Summary: The Molecular Cell and Biology Research Scientist works with some independence and is adept at outlining studies to design and execute focused research projects or complex experimental procedures. Responsibilities include studying disease biology in patient-relevant cellular models using appropriate readouts of disease or target mechanisms. The role requires resourcefulness, self-sufficiency, and the ability to design alternative approaches to achieve outcomes. Staying current with relevant scientific literature is essential. This level covers both entry-level staff with a PhD and advanced experimental experts leading critical laboratory functions impacting drug discovery. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Designs and conducts multi-component experiments Interprets data systematically and synthesizes results to guide project decisions Prioritizes studies based on feasibility and impact Performs advanced troubleshooting Incorporates new scientific insights into research activities Introduces relevant emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge Explores and validates new scientific principles and approaches Contributes to patent and publication preparations Prepares and presents study findings internally Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skills: Designs and executes complex experiments, including target validation and mechanistic studies in disease contexts Broad knowledge of fundamental biology principles Strong understanding of own discipline and current literature High level of knowledge on current developments in the field Proven productivity, creativity, and effective communication Awareness of related disciplines and basic understanding of their concepts Stem Cell Culture experience required Education and Experience: Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related fields with 0-3 years post-doctoral experience, or Master's Degree with 3+ years relevant experience Pay Range: $55-$60/hr #J-18808-Ljbffr Vertex Pharmaceuticals
