Engineering Manager, Host Pricing - Product UI Foundations

The Host Pricing org is forming a dedicated Frontend team to drive architecture and client experiences across pricing, availability, and guidance surfaces. This team will build and maintain reusable, crossplatform design systems and custom surfaces, enabling Airbnb to deliver consistent and highquality experiences for both hosts and guests.

As an Engineering Manager, you will partner closely with product, design, and crossfunctional engineering teams to shape the foundation of our clientfacing architecture. You will bring leadership and technical expertise across Web, iOS, and Android platforms while advocating for scalable patterns such as GraphQL and modern design system practices.

The Difference You Will Make:

• Build a new team: Lead a newly created group of 10 client engineers (3 Android, 3 iOS, 4 Web) spun out from two existing teams, providing clarity of mission and ownership of Airbnbs Host Pricing frontend architecture.
• Advance frontend architecture: Establish a sustainable architecture across surfaces (pricing, availability, guidance) and advocate for GraphQLdriven patterns to unify client experience.
• Shape design systems: Lead the development of Airbnbs pricing design system, including reusable, customizable, and crossplatform frontend components that will serve as the foundation for scalable UI delivery.

A Typical Day:

As an Engineering Manager on the Host Pricing, Product UI Foundation team, you will:

• Partner with designers and engineers to define design language systems and ensure consistent implementation across Web, iOS, and Android.
• Drive technical direction for frontend surfaces, balancing performance, scalability, and usability.
• Coach, mentor, and grow a team of client engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure that pricing and availability experiences are reliable, performant, and visually cohesive.
• Collaborate with other senior leaders to define and drive longterm technical strategy and architecture that enables the companys future vision.
• Establish a technical vision and lead efforts to architect, build, and launch reliable, performant, and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with and influence crossfunctional partners to design and deliver highquality products.
• Lead team technical initiatives, and work crossfunctionally to identify opportunities for business impact, refine, and prioritize requirements for engineering systems.
• Lead conversations that align technical efforts with business outcomes and product priorities.
• Nurture a culture of technical quality and engineering excellence from design, through code review, to production.
• Enable and empower ICs to grow their impact beyond individual contributions, creating opportunities for them to lead technical initiatives that span across platforms and organizations.
• Retain, grow and hire a team of highperforming engineers. Build a strong and diverse team capable of turning ambitious product visions into a polished reality.

Your Expertise:

• 3-5+ years of handson experience managing an engineering team and 9+ years of overall relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced tech environment.
• Bachelors and/or Masters degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Strong expertise in leading client teams across native iOS, Android, and Frontend Web domains.
• Strong product and design instinct, previous proven experience building delightfully designed experiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven experience working with many engineering teams and crossfunctional partners.
• Flexible in leadership style, can adapt to a variety of ways of working depending on the situation.
• Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with high business impact.
• Creating a strong culture of operational excellence with focus on raising the bar for quality, reliability and availability.
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance shortterm business needs with longterm technical quality.
• Strong communication skill and ability to influence decisions from a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Experience fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment.
• Able to identify, retain, grow and acquire critical talent.
