Senior Bioinformatics Scientist | South San Francisco | $175k – $200k + Equity

One of the fastest-growing companies in biotech infrastructure is hiring a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join their team in South San Francisco. They're building the next generation of DNA sequencing tools used daily by some of the world’s most innovative scientists, from Nobel Prize winners to biotech startups, and they’re on track to save researchers millions of hours this year alone.

This a great opportunity for someone who loves working at the intersection of biology and engineering, and wants to see their work directly accelerate life sciences research at scale.

What you’ll do

You’ll design and optimize high-throughput sequence analysis workflows that power thousands of samples daily. You'll work closely with scientists, engineers, and bioinformaticians to develop new products, improve existing pipelines, and bring your own creativity and leadership into a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

What they're looking for

• Strong experience building and deploying bioinformatics pipelines in production
• Python skills and familiarity with workflow managers like Snakemake or Nextflow
• Comfortable working with Illumina or Oxford Nanopore data
• Experience optimizing for performance and scaling tools to handle large volumes of sequencing data
• A mindset that blends scientific curiosity with engineering rigor

Tech stack includes: Python, Snakemake, Nextflow, Conda, Docker/Singularity, GitHub Actions

Location & working style

Hybrid — 3 days a week onsite (Mon/Wed/Fri) in South San Francisco
